Patterns is a multimedia installation looking at the effects of Donald Trump's presidential career. On the surface, I am exploring conversations of accountability, responsibility, and literally issues of climate change through the use of a trash sculpture and video which suggest disorganized, contrasting views of our environmental situation. The layered photographs, however, address my tangled relationship with Trump's crude discourse around political topics which often encourage conversations of hate and exclusion in the media. Throughout this installation, I use trash primarily as a symbol for environmental issues, but not exclusively, to invite viewers to consider their priorities and reevaluate how we understand what is important, whether that be picking up trash or accepting those who are different than us.
